Friday: Five Things and Fifty Shades

1. I am still getting used to seeing less of this guy. Daniel started a new job a couple of weeks ago and he leaves for work before 7a.m. He works long days and then tries to get a gym workout in and be in bed at 9 a.m. Plus, his weekend is now Sunday and Monday. In the evenings I usually have plans, especially with the amount of running I’m doing right now. So, we don’t get to spend as much good ol’ couple time together like we used to, but things could be far worse and we’re getting used to it.

2. I started an account on Daily Mile. I’ve been recording my workouts on a small paper calendar at my work desk. Primitive, I know. So far Daily Mile seems great! My profile is linked on the right of this blog if you want to check it out.

3. I don’t want to jinx anything but last night I broke 30 minutes for a 5K. That’s my goal for my race a week from tomorrow and one of my New Year’s resolutions. My left calf is killing me today!

4. I ran into my favourite former neighbour last night – he’s six-years-old and a genius. He’s still working on inventing a flying car, which he’s been talking about since he lived behind us a year ago. But flying cars are no joke, and I know that kind of research takes time.

5. Last but not least…tonight my book club is meeting to discuss Fifty Shades of Grey. We all read it with the intention to drink wine and make fun, so I’m pretty pumped. I will tell you right now how my side of the conversation will go:

I hated this book.

I hated her.

I hated him.

It’s written horribly.

It made me laugh AND want to vomit.

I hated this book.

While I was trying to decide what kind of food to bring, I sent my mom an email for advice. I’ll leave you with our conversation (click on the photo to make it larger):
