Friday: Working For The (Long) Weekend

This work week flew by, and that’s extra awesome since today marks the beginning of the Canada Day long weekend! Three whole days to check things off my Summer To-Do List.

I’ve been eyeing the weather forecast all week (not sure when I became that person) and I don’t mind what I’m seeing.

Let’s ignore the constant threat of thundershowers and move in for a closer look…

Yeah baby! I’ll take those temperatures! It was so hot in May but we’ve had a crappy June. I’m turning translucent and currently have no itchy mosquito bites. Definitely going to change that this weekend.

For lunch today I decided to take myself out to lunch. Cafe Loka is a neighbourhood cafe that opened right around the corner from my apartment about a year ago and I always felt so guilty about not stopping in yet. That changed today when I saw on Facebook that the lunch special was pizza.

I actually forgot how much I sometimes enjoy dining alone. I sat outside at a big communal table with a baby boy, his mom, and another stranger, but I was feeling quiet so I just ate my meal and enjoyed the sun. Everything at Cafe Loka is homemade and they have a lot of vegetarian and gluten-free options. I had the veggie pizza and a big salad with Peanut Thai  dressing.

Before leaving I went back in for a The Bomb cookie, which was made with loads of healthy ingredients, but was indulgent enough to get me through Friday afternoon.

If you’re in Canada, I wish you a weekend full of cold beer (I prefer lime-flavoured), strawberry shortcake and beach volleyball. If you’re not in Canada, I wish you the same, regardless. :)
